The assistant referee who was tasked with officiating El Clasico last week has been handed a two-week ban by La Liga after reportedly getting ‘too friendly’ with the Barcelona stars.
Spanish radio station Cadena SER say that Pau Norbert Cebrian Devis was ‘reprimanded for his conduct’ after the investigation by the refereeing committee revealed questionable behaviour.
Devis is claimed to have been joking around in the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms with Barcelona star Lionel Messi and his teammates.
The refereeing committee have let their disapproval be known and forced Devis to sit out this weekend – and he has been told he won’t be officiating next weekend either.
Real were furious with decisions that had been given against them by referee Carlos Clos Gomez during the 1-1 draw at Nou Camp.
The Galacticos chose not to file an official complaint but made their feelings clear by slamming the officials’ performance in various post match interviews.
After the game captain and goalscorer Sergio Ramos said:”The referee at Camp Nou? I could say a lot of things after watching the game back a couple of times, but it wouldn’t change anything. I’m going to keep out of it because I don’t want to give headlines.
