When I’m alone in my room, I try to mince exactly the same words that famous Italian warrior told his soldiers! “Hey brave men! We are champions but have lost countless wars and risen again. Today, we have capitulated in the hands of other great warriors, because we think we are the best! Why have we lost ground on what made us greats in the making? Henceforth, I have decided to make you, you and you better fighters, soldiers of courage and we shall fight till the battlegrounds see us as a threat, we are champions! We are the best!” I still don’t fathom if this is enough to get a weakened muscle firing. While some muscles are getting weaker from disuse atrophy, some have hypertrophied to the level required of carrying weights and responsibilities that are very heavy! I don’t know what Antonio Conte is telling his players but even if he sings Mandarin songs and murmurs karaoke, it’s working to the last point of fault!
Find a fault out of this team and they are playing their next game proving you wrong. The best thing they’ve shown is the respect they’ve commanded from opposition coaches and players, grinding out wins even when they aren’t up to scratch, Conte is a brilliant manager and he’s gotten a group of people whose minds have synchronised with their bodies.
You can only have little to complain of when you are not playing and the team keeps winning. Players on the bench have very little to talk about because quite brilliantly, they are not playing and are still “happy” as humans, even if not as sportsmen. I respect Conte and his ideas and the subtleness of his tone is a very good way of getting his opponents. He screams silently and jubilates radically. Opposition coaches may not fear Chelsea but they fear the next goal they’ll score. Fans leave every stadium happy, whether North or South of London, Merseyside or Manchester, they always have their anthems and their favourite players’ names to chant.
Eleven wins out of eleven is no spinning game! The EPL is the most difficult league in the world, an average follower knows. The tackles, detestable officiating sometimes, oversensitive technologies and most importantly, the speed of the games makes it a very tough nut to crack but since Chelsea turned the corner, I will tag them warriors.
Average players are feeling like world beaters now and since their loss against Arsenal, they’ve conceded just about 3 goals. This is no luck! It’s football in England; it’s an army of hardworking lieutenants.
Antonio Conte is such a blessing to English football and perhaps, has come to prove once again that, coaching is indeed an Italian art. He is Chelsea’s fourth Italian coach after Gianluca Vialli, Claudio Ranieri, Carlo Ancelotti. Ancelotti won a double in his first season and is a viral success in football. Ranieri couldn’t manage to win an EPL with them but has done so with modest Leicester, Conte is another genius from the Italian clan and one that deserves a lot of respect but caution must be held in the left hand of the right-handed soldier as indeed, this is a battle and only the brave lasts it!
